intuition in a toxic culture

If you would rather consume my babbling musings by listening to me instead of reading, click here for the audio version.

When it comes to my work and my offerings, its always going to be about bridging that gap between our 3D physicality and all its wonderful limitations, and our multi-dimensional spirituality with all its energetic expansiveness.

We are both.

Honoring, acknowledging and balancing both create a lot of harmony in ones life.

The contents of this email is one option to explore on your path, one that I hope makes you feel more at home in your body, more in touch with your soul and my connected with your intuitive wisdom:

7 things you need to know to connect and trust your intuition more efficiently:

1.  Acknowledge the environment + our toxic culture

To be honest, this first topic could be an entire email on its own. If you are interested in the deep dive, I urge to read the book Myth of Normal.

For the sake of keeping things short and sweet, and not getting too dark, the point is to be able to acknowledge that societal standards create a lot of toxicity in our culture making it challenging to access your intuition.

Not only do your immediate circumstances often get in the way of making time and space for yourself in this way, it is also likely that undealt with small-t trauma's impact you in ways you are unaware of.

Yes, even if you consider yourself having a happy childhood or never had anything "bad" happen to you.

Society has taught us all ways to behave that have been normalized but have never been natural.

One measly example - the cry it out method.

The idea here is to let a baby learn self soothing techniques, but it is scientifically clear that the part of the brain that is responsible to learn and act out self soothing, isn't even present in a baby's brain yet.

A lot of us have experienced this method and it's still used to this day even though the negative impact it has on child development.

This isn't to crucify parents, its the information they are given and intentions are usually good here.

But that doesn't negate the impact and this is just one small example.

(Okay I said I wasn't going to get dark lol)

Again, read The Myth of Normal or more specifically for this topic: read this (same author).

So why is this important?

It allows you to be more self compassionate with yourself and take some of the pressure off when it does get challenging.

Things like this had an impact on you and that impact could affect your ability to access your healing and intuition, but I assure you there is nothing wrong with you.

Although none of it is your fault, it's no ones fault really, your choice to reclaim your inner power, wisdom and creativity and the practices needed to do so, is your responsibility.

You aren't broken, but the systems we live in are.

When you start to remove the filters clouding your perception, don't blame yourself for what you weren't able to see

2.  There is nothing you need to heal

To continue from the first point..

There is no healing that must be accomplished in order to connect to your intuition.

You can read that again if you wish.

There is no level of spiritual success that must be reached in order for you to access your quantum realms.

This is an innate part of you, within you.

The society and its expectations that raised you and how you internalized that may tell otherwise, but it's simply not true.

What is true, is when you take the time to make space for these innate parts of you, whether you have your own self guided practices,

whether you sign up for group healing containers

or whether you immerse yourself into retreats

the act of doing so is healing.

The signing up, the showing up, the leaning, all healing.

It may take time and dedication to start to attune yourself to the subtleties of this work, so don't let that discourage you into thinking nothing is working for you.

Keep showing up love.

3.  Searching for "how to-s" won't help you

Once we have acknowledged the climate and understand the act of doing the damn thing is an act of healing, the first mistake I see made is asking this:

"How do I do it?"

My response: the how isn't up to you.

How you access and connect to your intuition isn't so much something you have to do.

It is more accurate to ask 'when and where can I do it', the "it" being whatever way or tool you choose to practice.

The key here is about not getting stuck on searching for that perfect how, that direct access point, based on someone else's knowledge and experience.

Their way can guide your way but both ways will always be unique to each other.

Finding a space and guide that is able to do that for you, without taking a dogmatic approach to their own way, is valuable.

Try your best to step away from information overload when it comes to your internal world and just start stepping into it without knowing exactly "how".

While I always encourage self practices, sometimes that's unrealistic for folks.

A good alternative is investing in a package of energy healing sessions, that way you know you have 10 hours to yourself, for your practice with someone there to be accountable to showing up and to guide you.

4.  You'll find what your looking for inside the body

To piggy back off the first mistake..

The second mistake I see when starting to learn to travel to quantum realms and connect deeply with that internal wisdom is that folks can forget just that, it's internal wisdom.

And I don't blame them.

I remember before doing this type of work, thinking that doing so meant going to places so far outside yourself, as if you soul exits the body and catapults into the unknown, not knowing if it will return at all.

Lol.

I have come to experience this is very much not the case.

This work is actually embodiment work, the way I do it at least, where you are brought deep into the crevices of the body, which is the unconscious mind, the feminine realm.

Often times the starting point is learning to sit with the discomfort of stillness.

The other way this block shows up is comparing other peoples experiences and how they may receive insight.

For example, not everyone has a visual experience on a guided visualization.  If someone has a belief or expectations that they should receive visuals or try and make an effort to do so during their practice, they are most likely missing out on how they do receive internal wisdom.

Visuals are one clairsense and there are others.

When I guide others in these spaces I am always asking what do you feel, know, taste, smell or hear?

These are all other ways we receive access and develop that connection to our intuition and its done so by tuning into those sensations within the body.

5.  Rekindling the love affair within

Maybe you picked up on it, but a lot of what we are talking about is masculine and feminine alchemy at work.

Choosing to turn inwards instead of outwards is an act of your inner masculine making space for your inner feminine.

Choosing a practice, especially ones that bring you into your body, and being disciplined with that ritual, is your masculine providing structure and safety for your feminine

Choosing to let go of needing to know how and simply showing up for yourself in this way, is your masculine honoring your feminine.

Creating inner union in this way, is deeply healing.

This sounds simple but it isn't easy.

This brings us back to our first point and the toxic culture we strive to heal in.

This toxicity mostly arises due to the suppression of the feminine (especially the dark feminine) and the exploitation of the masculine to external forces.

Doing this work, and brining these parts of you back into union is not only self healing but a deep act of gentle rebellion in our current climate.

6.  The Practice is the portal

When we take time to come back to our rituals in a consistent way, the practice builds on itself and that is what creates portals for you to access and connect more intimately with that internal landscape and inner knowing.

Portals give you access to new wisdom, innate gifts, sometimes memories, sometimes emotions just looking for a chance to be expressed, etc.

Whatever shows up, you can trust it is for your good and healing benefit, if that's the intention set by you and/or your space holder.

I sometimes suggest to private clients to practice "office" hours.

Time and space in your schedule to sit with your practice of choice, creating a ritual for themselves.

It could be a guided meditation,an embodiment practice,it could be your weekly yoga practice or your daily dog walk.

Also, your consistency doesn't have to mean daily.

Maybe for you, its a couple times a year when you immerse yourself into deep experiences like weekend or week-long retreats.

Perhaps its monthly at a group gatherings or community healings.

Your consistency could even be an intuitive approach without as much structure, just when you feel called.

Always honor your nuances!

7.  It's not going to feel good to trust at first

Let's pretend the above has been established, you have started to let go of any societal limiting beliefs preventing you from stepping into your practice.

You have picked a practice and shown up in whatever consistent way feels good for you.

And now you are starting to see or know or feel or hear that internal landscape more clearer.

You know what it's asking of you and you know what you need to do in your everyday life for your growth to occur.

It is very important to understand that sometimes choosing to act on those knowing's and ultimately trusting in yourself, isn't always going to feel great at first.

I see a lot of folks thinking they need to trust their intuition before they can act on it but it's the acting on it that builds the trust.

The doing the thing and getting to the other side to see that everything is perfectly fine; that's how the trust gets integrated.

So don't confuse a need for trust with your uneasiness with discomfort because that's what this is really about and that's super common.

This is where it's important to remember that societal impact and how most of us were conditioned not to trust that inner self.

How the brain is most likely wired to sound the alarms here because what it knows as safety is being tested.

That discomfort is you facing that internalized pressure that really doesn't serve you and you can for sure start to let it go by showing up for yourself in this way!

You are safe to integrate all of you!
